Portland, ME engine purchased in the
1760s housed in new engine house on Middle St in the Town of Falmouth, MA now
the
pininsula section of the
City of Portland. This engine was placed on some sort os Casson to be take to
fires. The
engine and engine house were destroyed during
the Revolutionary War on 0/23/1775 when the British navy with 4
vessels can into
the Harbor and fired upon the town and sailors came
ashore and set fire to the town of Falmouth
destroying nearly 3/4 of the town
